The ban on Twitter will be lifted after 222 days, according to President Muhammadu Buhari.
Mr Buhari issued the order in June of last year, just days after his genocidal remark on the people of the South-East geopolitical zone was removed.
After examining a document from the Minister of Communication and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami, Mr Buhari issued the order.
The information was disclosed in a joint statement by the Chairman Technical Committee Nigeria-Twitter Engagement and the Director-General National Security.
Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, CCIE, Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA).
Mr Abdullahi stated, “The Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN) authorizes me to tell the public that President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, has ordered the lifting of the suspension of Twitter operations in Nigeria effective from 12am tonight, 13th January 2022,” “The approval came when the Honourable Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Prof Isa Ali Ibrahim, wrote a memo to the President.”
“In the Memo, the Minister provided an update and requested President Obama’s consent for the lifting based on the advice of the Technical Committee Nigeria-Twitter Engagement.”
