Armed robbers attack bullion van in Ibadan , killed 3 policemen and four others .

Three police officers and four others were killed when armed robbers assaulted a bullion van delivering money to a bank at Idi-Ape in the Ibadan North East Local Government area of Oyo state.

The armed thieves, who were believed to be dressed in police clothing, followed the bullion van to Idi-Ape and attempted but failed to intercept it, according to Vanguard.

It should be remembered that a similar crime occurred in 2008, in which scores of people were horribly murdered.

However, eyewitnesses told our correspondent that the bandits fired several bullets at the escort van in an attempt to stop it and steal the money.

According to an unconfirmed story, the robbers were unable to loot the van since the driver managed to flee.

It was also revealed that the police leadership initiated a manhunt for the fleeing criminals, promising to apprehend them.

All attempts to contact the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Adewale Osifeso, were unsuccessful since he did not pick up his phone or respond to a text message sent to his mobile number.
