Bet9ja Website Hacked by unknown hackers , N5bn Demanded
Bet9ja, a popular betting site, has been hacked by unidentified hackers.
Sports pundits who frequently use the betting platform said the hack was discovered when they couldn’t access the site in the early hours of Wednesday.
According to Michael Okoro, an operator who spoke with our Correspondent in Owerri, he worked late on Tuesday and noticed the anomalies early Wednesday morning.
He also claimed that the hackers contacted the betting company and demanded a N5 billion ransom.
“I have not worked since Wednesday morning as a result of the attack on the bet9ja website.”
“The site has been unavailable for nearly 48 hours. According to the company, the hackers demanded a N5 billion ransom to allow them to operate.
He also stated that the situation has kept him from working and that he hopes it will be resolved by next Monday.
When our correspondent attempted to access the site, he only saw the betting site’s official statement confirming the hack.
“Like so many market-leading global organizations, Bet9ja recently became a victim of a sophisticated criminal cyber-attack, which is restricting your access to our platform,” the statement reads.
“We take this issue very seriously.” Our top priority is to protect our customers, and you can rest assured that your accounts and funds are secure.
“We appreciate your understanding and patience during this difficult time.”
“We will return stronger than ever as soon as it is technically possible, rewarding you with a truly sensational bonanza of content.”
